When disaster strikes, transportation plays an essential role in evacuating people with disabilities, older adults and others without access to a personal vehicle. This was a prime lesson from Hurricane Katrina and other more recent disaster events. Due to the importance of transportation to disaster response and recovery, Nusura has developed a focus on emergency training and technical assistance for transit agencies, paratransit operators and departments of transportation.
Ensuring that transportation is prepared to fulfill its proper roles and responsibilities during emergency situations is a field Nusura has proudly helped pioneer, resulting in more effective planning guidance, emergency plans, and ultimately more effective response to the wide array of hazards we face in society today.
Through our work we have helped communities to maximize their transportation resource capabilities before, during and after disaster events.
